The Tourism Guidance Department prepares the student to work in the following fields:

  • Touristic guidance in archaeological and tourist sites.
  • Touristic guidance in Egyptian archaeological museums.

The tourism guidance includes guiding, organizing and managing trips in tourist and archaeological sites, implementing tourist programs accompanied by tour groups, and carrying out a specialized and detailed explanation of the history and monuments of Egypt through eras.

The Department of Tourism Guidance also qualifies the student to enroll in postgraduate programs dealing with in-depth studies on archeological sites, museums and the study of technical features and architectural development in different historical periods. The Department of Tourism Guidance aims at forming researchers in the tourism and archeological sectors, archaeological sites and museums.

The student studies the following courses three levels:

  • The history and monuments of ancient Egypt by studying archaeological sites for the development of architecture and art in ancient Egypt and studying the development of royal tombs architecture tom with detailed study of examples of in Saqqara, Giza, Luxor and others.
  • History and monuments of Ptolemaic Egypt through the study of archaeological sites and museums of Egypt in the Ptolemaic era.
  • The history and monuments of Egypt in Romanian era through the study of archaeological sites and monuments of Byzantine Egypt, Coptic churches and the Coptic Museum.
  • History and monuments of Islamic Egypt through the study of archaeological sites of the Islamic era including the study of famous mosques, schools and the Islamic Museum.
  • History and monuments of Egypt in modern and contemporary times through the study of archaeological sites in Egypt in the modern era.
  • Ancient Egyptian language through by reading ancient Egyptian texts recorded on papyri, paintings and recorded scenes on the walls of temples and tombs.
  • Ancient Egyptian literature.
  • Sculpture and minor arts.
  • Heritage tourism through which students learn about the concept of heritage and its application in the field of tourism and how to preserve heritage
  • Religion in ancient Egypt through eras.
  • Various museums from different historical ages and the identification the etiquette of museum visit.
  • Tourist guides (sites and museums) where students are divided into groups to visit archaeological sites and museums and participate in the detailed explanation and presentation of the most important information and linked to historical evidences taking into account the historical era.
  • Various tourist legislations that regulate tourism activity.
  • Two foreign languages.
